Taking a Deep Dive into Real World Readiness

In Foundations of Global Education, educators will explore frameworks in global education and connect them to curriculum development and pedagogy. Educators will investigate how to prepare students in their diverse communities, analyze multiple perspectives, learn strategies for cross-cultural collaboration, and incorporate problem solving into lesson plans and units. Throughout each lesson, educators will build resources through technology tools and expert webinars for their own lesson planning and unit design. Finally, educators will create a teacher vision statement for global and cultural competence and complete a global lesson building activity.

Participants in Foundations of Global Education will:

  1. Build understanding of frameworks for global and cultural competence
  2. Identify and explain cross cultural communication
  3. Incorporate global activities and pedagogy into their classrooms, schools, and communities
  4. Engage with experts in the field of global education
  5. Build a network of global educators in their content and geographic area

Foundations of Global Education is a facilitator-led course with enrollment of up to 50 students. The facilitator will create and moderate discussion groups between educators, review and evaluate assignments, answer content-related questions, and provide feedback to educators.
